It all starts…

First off, welcome to the blog. This week we have been busy getting ready for our first “Lend Me Your Ears” show airing this Wednesday at 1pm.

As BA my main concern was learning the desk and how it is run. Last Thursday we went in for a first rehearsal to get a feel for the studio, and I got hands on with the desk for the first time. It is fair to say I am a lot more comfortable with the desk which has settled my nerves quite a bit.

What have I learned this week?

– Making the most of the time given is crucial. I spent around 3-4 hours going through all the audio and editing it down before going into the studio. By doing this it gave me audio to play with in the studio practice, but it also relieved some pressure on my shoulders as it meant I didn’t have to worry about it as much over the weekend running up to the show on Wednesday.

– The radio desk of course. The awesome people at siren gave me a quick run down of how to run the equipment. I left really feeling I learnt something worthwhile and important.

The next post will most likely be after the show. Reflecting on the show with what went right and wrong is exciting but also terrifying at the same time!
